Tax

Tax planning and procedure, for the company and for family wealth alike.

We plan beforehand and defend afterwards. Beforehand, so that a transaction — selling a business, ordering family wealth, moving one's residence — takes the least burdensome route the law allows. Afterwards, if the authorities disagree, through the procedure and the appeal.

Frequently asked questions

What clients usually ask us

  • How much inheritance tax is paid in Andalusia?

In Andalusia, most inheritances between parents, children and spouses pay very little or nothing thanks to regional reductions and allowances. The amount depends on the relationship, the heir's existing wealth and what is inherited: the main home and the family business have their own reductions. Non-residents can, as a rule, also apply the regional rules. We calculate the tax before the inheritance is accepted and plan to reduce it.

  • I do not live in Spain but own a property here: what taxes do I pay?

Even if it is not let, a non-resident owner pays Non-Resident Income Tax every year on the income the law attributes to the property (form 210), in addition to municipal property tax (IBI). If it is let, tax is paid on the rent; and on sale, on the gain, with 3% of the price withheld by the buyer. Depending on the value of your assets in Spain, Wealth Tax may also be due. We file these returns and review what the tax treaty with your country provides.

  • I have received a letter from the Spanish tax authorities: what should I do?

Read it carefully and note the deadline, which is usually ten working days to provide documents or make submissions. It may be a simple request for information, a proposed assessment or the start of an inspection, and each calls for a different response. The prudent course is not to reply without advice: what is provided at the outset shapes the whole procedure.

  • What is the special regime for inbound workers, the «Beckham Law»?

A special regime for those who move their residence to Spain for work: in the year of the move and the following five, they are taxed as non-residents, at a flat rate of 24% on employment income up to €600,000, instead of the general income tax scale. It has strict requirements and a six-month deadline from registration with Social Security to opt in. We assess whether it suits you and handle the application.
